Looking at BOTH sides of the equation!

April 7, 2011 by dbo355446115

Ok, maybe it wont be THAT bad, but were NOW going to take a LOT of the information that we’ve developed up to THIS point and turn it AROUND!

Lets play with that one part of math we ALL hated, NUMBER SIGNS! Yes that’s right we are going to do our best to look at a discussion from BOTH sides of the equation. I was once told that if more men could develop this habit there would be less fighting in the world….

So far the MAJORITY of our questions have been on the positive angle, what if we looked at the QUESTIONS from both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE views? Well they might look something like this:

Remember our second level of 5 questions, lets re-arrange them JUST a bit and make 10 of them;

First, lets try our five simple questions:

1)        Why would anyone want to read a book of this nature?

A1)  Because we have ALL thought “what if” at some point or another, and this storyline is all about a man who is given the chance to do it again and do it differently!

-1)   Why WOULDN’T EVERYONE want to read a book of this  nature?

-A1) Because even though we have ALL had THAT  thought, none of us want to face the fact that we have made the ABSOLUTE wrong decision.

2)        Why should anyone want to see the outcomes of a different choice?

A2)   Because we all have so MANY different choices.

-2)   Why WOULDN’T anyone want to face the outcomes of   different choices?

-A2)   Again there are SO many choices that almost ANY  of them could become the WRONG one, or the right one,  so how would you EVER know which to choose?

3)        Why do I want people to be able to experience different outcomes from their decisions?

A3)   To give people the confidence in their current  decisions or show them the diversity available for future  decisions

-3)   Why DON’T I want people to be able to experience  different outcomes from their different decisions?

-A3)   Since there is almost NO way to predict in advance which will be the right and which will be the     “wrong” decisions, then there is nothing saying that ANY  of them, or more importantly HOW MANY OF THEM, will l    ead to the RIGHT one. Now if they were to determine  that there is NO absolutely wrong decision than perhaps  they would find more peace in ALL their decisions., but     THAT’S a different line of thinking entirely.

4)        What Mistakes should folks Learn from?

A4)   ALL OF THEM.  This book format may allow people   to examine their decisions and determine which ones  have room to teach them how to do it “better” next  time.

-4)   What mistakes should people choose NOT to learn from?

-A4)   Well unfortunately is seems as though most people choose not to ;earn from ANY decisions they       ,make almost EVERYTIME they make one and come up with a negative response. However, if we were to make a GIVEN situation where you WILL learn something what mistakes would the choose NOT to learn from? Well  given an absolute, perhaps OUR character may choose    NOT to learn from a situation where even though he/she  did NOT win (by their own standards) someone else DID  win, that they care about and would not want to change that scenario.

5)    Why do I want people to learn from their mistakes?

A5)   So they can NOT make them again and TEACH what they learned to those who come AFTER them.

-5)   Why would I NOT want my characters to learn from their mistakes?

-A5)   Well if my character or characters are from a mini series or a continuing saga than perhaps a major plot point could be the fact that they get chance after chance to repeat their issues and yet they NEVER learn. It could be a situation where there is a 5 step process, and the   1st time around they don’t learn from any of them. Then the next time the learn the lesson of 1, but not 2, 3 ,4 or 5. then the Next time around they know 1, and now they  learn from 2, but 3, 4 and 5 are still lessons they have yet to learn. This could be a VERY interesting and  ongoing developmental point for your characters.

Wow, I DON’T have a headache, my HANDS however, OY all this typing, and I want to be a writer because…….

So, we are past step 2, and now we….
